Light, Just Light

LIGHT

By John L Fisk

Have you ever considered light, just light?   Light can be transmitted or received, it is used to convey information and to illuminate; it conveys information in the form of color, and intensity and position.  It is the very first thing to be created and until the 20th century it was not known by man that light was both matter and energy.  I perceive that a thousand books with a thousand pages would only begin to contain those things about light that are not known. I image that when God said, “Let there be light.”  A big bang occurred and the universe began to expand at 186,000 miles per second, the speed of light.  The universe continues to expand and God’s creation has yet to be fathomed by meager men. Yet, Yehovah, our God, has placed the universe before men as an object of His glory, a place to abide and a wonderment.  The universe has expanded trillions of miles from the sight of these men.  Yet, these same men survey the boundaries with sensing equipment, such as radio telescopes and probes that after years of travel are not even close to the nearest star.   I perceive that the amount of energy at the place where God said, “Let there be light”, was infinite and all the glory of God was contained at that precise location and moment.   A portion of this glory may be seen any clear night by looking up at the heavens. Knowing what you are beholding is but a small fraction of the whole but it is a finite part of His infinite glory.  Far more is there than what you see.  Our eyes can see from infrared, the lowest visual frequency to ultra-violet, the highest visual frequency but this is but a small fraction of the total bandwidth of transmitted energy.    Energy is wide, very wide low frequency radio wave lengths are about 600 meters long (6×102 meters) to ultra-high frequency gamma rays which have very short wave lengths like 0.000000000003 (3×10-12) meters long. Three pico-meters long is a 1000 time smaller than a nano-meter and a million times smaller than a micro-meter. The various frequencies of this radiated ‘energy’ have different characteristics. Some frequencies radiate their energy in a simply line of sight while others will bounce off the stratosphere and can be transmitted around the world.   Some radiated energy is absorbed by simple substances and others cannot penetrate a piece of paper, and yet, others will go right through concrete walls.   Light is certainly complex but to God it is simple.

Your eyes respond to only a very narrow “bandwidth” of this energy and this is identified as light.   Your eyes have the ability to discern various wave lengths within this band; you know this ability as the discernment of color.  Let me try to put this in another way, the bandwidth of energy transmitted from the sun is millions of times greater than what can be seen.  If the energy transmitted from the sun to the earth is this rich, consider that the sun is merely a creation of Yehovah and the amount of information that we don’t know would fill volumes.    It is reasonable to think that there are so many things that we don’t know that it is presumptuous to even try to fathom our ignorance.  Our God has commanded that His glory be explored by His kings, and if you are in Christ you are a king, and thus commanded to explore.  (Proverbs 25:2)

So fellow explorers, consider a tree, a green tree, which spreads its leaves under the sun for the simple purpose of taking a very narrow bandwidth of the sun’s energy to turn it into life: life that causes the tree to grow and prosper.  This process is called photosynthesis.  Do you know all that takes place in the leaves of the tree to cause this life to spring forth?  Neither do I.   It is only one of the mysteries that may be explored but before you undertake a life’s work you might first consider the following.

Do you know what or who the “Light of life” is?

I do, it’s Jesus.

Jesus  said, “I am the Light of the world.  He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life.”  [John 8:12]

Jesus is the source of light which illuminates darkness, brings life and conveys information.  This life brought by Jesus transcends the act of taking in air and putting out air.  The life that is spoken of here grows, gets fuller, and causes you to become naturalized in the Presence of Yehovah. The statement by Jesus “I am the Light of World” is not understood in its entirety.  What does this mean?  Please understand, Jesus is the source of all light; another way to put it is that all light that is received is from Him.   Jesus is the Creator, not the created.  With this information you may think that all who stand in the sun, stand in the light.   However, standing in the sun is just standing in the created light.  Not to be discounted but to be understood. This light is given in grace to both the just and the unjust.  It is the light of the sun.   In addition to sunlight there is more, maybe it is a different bandwidth, maybe we are transformed, when we come to Jesus into different light receivers but whatever the case, there is an enlightenment that is not experienced by those who are not in this Light.

It may be that the light source from Jesus does not behave within the same physical concepts, I was taught, but I believe it does.  There is a life that this Light causes the receiver to bring forth.   I believe the closer one follows Jesus the more intense the energy from this Light.   The amount of energy increases with the square of the distance; halve your distance to Jesus and the intensity will increase by four. Decrease your distance to one quarter and the energy will be increased by sixteen.  As you get closer you will have to adjust to the intensity.  After you adjust you can step a bit closer and readjust again.   When you get very close you will become sensitive to darkness.   Sensitivity means you become aware of those things that others are unaware.    If this sensitivity to darkness could be measured; you would be able to measure Holiness.  The Holier you are the closer you are to the Light source.  You start to take on the characteristics of the Light source.  You, become more like Jesus.   You may or may not be aware that the whole process is occurring.  If you are close enough and stay long enough you will began to shine as does the Source.    It is at that point that you become a radiator or transmitter rather than a receiver.

There is another way that you may find yourself in the close proximity to the Light without going through the incremental process.   This may be, to some, a deadly event.   Our God is a consuming fire and that which is unholy and in His Presence is consumed.   Isaiah the prophet found himself in close proximity to the throne of God on one occasion and he retorted:  “My destruction is sealed, for I am a sinful man and a member of a sinful race. Yet I have seen the King, Yehovah of Hosts!”  (Isaiah 6)  There was no confusion in Isaiah’s mind He was about to be toast, one of the effects of getting too close to infrared light is bread becomes toast.

Those that make the transition from receiving to transmitting are required to have time in His Presence, an encounter with Yehovah.  There is a time, and the time may be now, that Yehovah will call out His people, a call to His appointed purpose.   This is His way in the course of His appointed times.   We are in the preparation period of those times, he proclaims the way of His Salvation.   He does nothing unless he first tell His servants the prophets in the generation of the event.  Moad is the Hebrew transliteration for the word which means the ‘appointed time’ or ‘season.’    The word is first used in Genesis 1:14 which says —

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for

seasons, and for days, and years:

Moad becomes the word ‘season’  but it was translated on some occasions as the English words ‘feasts’, such is the case in  Leviticus 23:4 where Yehovah says:

Leviticus 23:4   These are the feasts of Yehovah, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their seasons.

God has appointed times, moad(s) defined by light, where great events, Kingdom events, occur.   We are on the threshold of a series of these events.  Before all of these events unfold, Yehovah will transform many of His people into Light transmitters.    They will not be aware of the event and He will awaken them to the moment and purpose of being a Light transmitter.   Such is the reason for the prophetic word declared in Isaiah 60:1-2:

Isaiah 60:1-2   Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of Yehovah is risen upon you.  For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but Yehovah shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you.

Truly – people we have been born for such a time as this.   This time gives new definition to let your Light shine.

Light Protection

By John L Fisk

At first blush it would seem the more light the better; “The better to see you with,” retorts the wolf.    But, any sunburn victim can say to the wolf: There seems to be more to this than meets the eye.  Yes, people have become aware that they must have protection from light.   Light protection comes in many forms such as sun blockers, blinds for windows and lead around x-ray machines. Light does not seem dangerous, it just is.  Most of the light or radiated energy that causes damage is invisible.  I am told that the sunburn actually comes from the UV band, much of which is not seen.  Once, while working with an RF (Radio Frequency) amplifier, I was burned by the RF output.   Fortunately the damage was not permanent.   I could not see the radiated energy that caused the damage but I knew I was burned.   My hand and more specifically my finger ached from being in very close proximity to the invisible radiating energy.    There is danger in being too close to radiated energy for too long.  Our God has put in place protection from the light and much of that protection is being or has been recently discovered.  The ozone layer is around the earth at about 65,000 feet and protects against UV by absorbing the UV and it is UV that creates the ozone layer.  The Van Allen radiation belt discovered in 1958 is a tubular belt of high-energy charged particles which surround the earth. These high-energy charged particles protect the earth from harmful radiation for the most part sourced in the sun. The belt protects humans from being hit and indeed destroyed by this very destructive light. Energy being generated and radiated by the sun actually distorts the Van Allen belt. It bends in the light as a tree gives in the wind.  It is the created function of this phenomenon called the Van Allen radiation belt.

It was and is Yehovah who put these protections in place long before men discovered them.    The ozone layer and the Van Allen radiation belt were not known but they saved the life of millions of people because God had placed all these protections around the earth.  Yehovah has left these things for men to discover.   It speaks to men of the fact that God loves the world but few hear the voice of Yehovah.  As Yehovah asked Job, “Were you there when the foundation of the world was laid?”   The answer is of course, no.  However, God has put in place these great things so His glory maybe revealed when they are discovered and the men who discover them also receive glory such is the nature and purposes of Yehovah. (Proverbs 25:2).

Jesus, who is the Light of the world, has the same characteristics as natural light.  I am not completely sure that light as we know it is not a subset of the Light of the world.  I know that there is a connection between how holy one is and how close one can get to the Light.   I do not mean holy as measured by men but holy as measured by God.  It is not measurable by men except in the distance one may find them self from Yehovah.

Walking into close proximity to a dangerous radiating power is felt and not seen.   Given that the source has enough bandwidth you may see some light but our eyes do not see light frequencies of infrared or below and ultra-violet and above.   We however feel it and soon become aware of its presence when we are too close to the source or abide too long in its presence.  Just as you may find it difficult to go from a dark room to a brightly lit room, the wicked find it difficult to go from the darkness to intense Light which is obtained only in the presence of Jesus.  Those that are wicked do not abide in the Light. They rather flee from it.  There is a very understandable reason for this.

Consider Psalm 68:2-3

…As smoke is driven away, so drive them (the wicked) away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.  But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yes, let them exceedingly rejoice.

How is it that the same force that consumes or melts the wicked is harmless, even good for the righteous?  The answer may be simply choice and conditioning.

(Psalm 104:35, Psalm 59:13) or 2 Thessalonians 2:8:

…And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

The Light of the world is a Lamp unto my feet, and it is also a Consuming Fire.    The very same Light that destroys the wicked is a Light in the Kingdom.   There is no contradiction for the very same Source that destroys the wicked will be the Light into which the righteous shall run.   It will take a bit of faith to do so for it is and will not be obvious that the Light is a good place into which to run.  Indeed, when the Israelites were before the mountain and Yehovah’s consuming fire covered the mountain: The people said, “Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the Yehovah our God any more, then we shall die.”   (Deuteronomy 5:2)

Yehovah is a Consuming Fire and His presence will and did make that an obvious fact.  What the righteous may or may not know is that they have Light protection.  While in the Navy I was drilled on what was billed as damage control.  Part of that drilling was fire fighting.    I was lead man on a hose and the function of the team behind me was to keep a fog of water surrounding me and others who manned the hose.  As long as the fog of water was around us we could get amazingly close to the flames.  If the fog was removed all the hair on your body would burn away.   Such is the nature of Light protection.   Light protection can come in many forms.   But the most important form is holiness.    Moses desired to see the full essence of Yehovah and he could not.    Moses’ Light protection was the cleft of a rock.   There was a difference between Moses and the Israelites that were left at the foot of the mountain.   The Israelites were protected by two factors: distance and araphel.    The distance factor is apparent.  Araphel is not.  Araphel surrounds the glory of Yehovah, and araphel is hidden in fact, word and history.

The word araphel is a transliteration of the Hebrew word ערפל which first appears in the scriptures in Exodus 20:21 which says:

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

I suppose you noticed that the word araphel did not appear in this verse.   Your observation would be absolutely correct.    You may find it curious why the word darkness is used.  So do I. The normal word for darkness is quite different.  When the word araphel is used in the scripture, it is translated as darkness. But it’s usage in the scripture would declare it to be a mysterious substance that surrounds Yehovah.  It appears in much of it’s usage to be a “light protector”  and if you pierce it and approach God without other protection, say like holiness then you may end up quite literally toast.   Even animals may not approach.

Consider the instructions that God gave Moses when he was asked to come up to Sinai.

Exodus 19:12-13 And you shall set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that you do not go up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever touches the mount shall be surely put to death:

There shall not a hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mount.

And then when the people became unholy in their sin, Moses was told to protect the people by not allowing them to go into the presence of Yehovah.

Exodus 19:21 And Yehovah said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the Yehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.

The fact was the substance that separated Yehovah from the people was araphel and if they presumed to penetrate it there would have been a death null and the essence of God would have consumed them.  Yet, Moses was able, without fear, to penetrate the araphel and indeed  emerge without any fire damage.  Moses had additional protection.

There was yet another step that Yehovah could take that would have consumed even Moses.  And on one occasion Moses asked Yehovah to take that step and God said, and I paraphrase, “You need additional protection.”   Yehovah placed Moses in the cleft of the rock.    While in the cleft, God just whisked by.  His backside passed the cleft of the rock and Moses absorbed so much light energy that he glowed when he came off the mountain.   The Cleft of the Rock is, of course, Yeshua.  You may know Him as Jesus, and He is still the only way to the presence of Yehovah.   He is the ultimate Light Protector.  Without Jesus – think toast.  Selah

Light and Leaven

John L Fisk

09-08-11

There is a scripture that I have pondered for many years.  It states that everyone is right in their own eyes. Proverbs 21:12.  The fact that every one operates in what they think is right does not mean that they are operating in Truth.   Truth is often inconvenient to those who discover just a little piece of it.  Men are inclined to justify their right and hide the Truth.   The reason is simple: Truth sheds light on the right of men and shows it to be wrong.   Men are connected to their right like leaven is connected to bread.   It is a very difficult thing to separate a man from his right-leaven. Yet, without the separation it is very difficult for a man to embrace Truth.  Right-leaven has one nemesis and that is Light.  The same Light that shows right to be wrong is a Revealer of Truth.  Without a willingness to abide in the Light, you are going to cultivate more and more right-leaven.   Right-leaven as any leaven causes you to be puffed-up.

Jesus once said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32.  Let me add from experience, “Before the Truth makes you free, the Truth will make you miserable.”   Right-leaven can be removed but not without pain.  Right-leaven is removed by exposure to the Light.  The side effect:  It removes pride – less leaven, less puffed-up.  You find your identity is no longer in being right and you can no longer justify yourself in your right for the Light exposes the wrong of your right and the right of the Truth.

The Light, when first applied, causes you to feel guilty as your right is wrong.  It is a natural thing for men to avoid guilt for guilt is painful and relentless.  Guilt is the natural internalized reaction which occurs when you discover you are not right.    When you discover you are not right you have choices:  you may cover-up the wrong; justify the wrong; or ignore the wrong.  Although these are all popular choices, not a one will remove the guilt.  Guilt however, is a tool which may be used by God to convict you. Conviction, if taken to its rightful, end can lead to the removal of guilt, the right-leaven and the sin.  This removal substance is the blood of Yeshua.   The blood is Holy Spirit applied at the beginning of the search for Truth.   The Truth is the source of the blood and this is the Truth.

    John,

When I was researching araphel and found this verse, “When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and araphel a swaddlingband for it,” Job 38:9, I figured there must be some sort of protective bands around the earth. I don’t guess that araphel is the same thing as the Van Allen Belt, but I wonder if they are related.
